Long overdue pics from Spring Break in March

Rodeo on Wednesday, March 17th

Free ice cream cones! Daniel's biscuit sample is temporarily forgotten. (Red helps the children stand out in a crowd.)

Petting Zoo

Did the deer like the salt on Daniel's sweaty face? Dan laughed and laughed!

Here's a handsome boy!

Josh looking for holds on the climbing wall.

Isaac giving me a smile in the glare of the sun.

The caterpillar was a huge hit!! Thankfully so, because I told the children they could only go on one ride. By the time we looked at all of the rides that were available, we were maxed out. Carnivals too often are too loud, too visually busy, and feel like an invasion of peace. We had our great ride, plus one other for Daniel, and went home happy.

Notice Dan's delight and Emma's resigned/preoccupied look. He couldn't ride on the caterpillar, so this jaunt was just for him.

Getting tired . . .

One last show -- Whiplash, the Cowboy Monkey! See him in the black hat? He rides a dog and rounds up sheep. Hmm... did it help that the dog is a sheep dog? Whatever the case, we enjoyed the show a lot! (Our vantage point was poor for picture taking.)

Wow - what an adventure! It was an adventure just reading about it and looking through the pictures. I even felt a little tired too at the tired picture. I am totally amazed that Daniel let the deer lick his face, and even laughed about it. Seth would've been permanently traumatized.

Did Isaac think the climbing wall was a cinch?
I totally love Daniel's face on his ride, and Emma's "I'm too old for this" look too. Daniel is sheer joy. We often have our boys in orange or yellow when we are going to a big busy place too. Looks like a great time. :) Thanks for sharing it!

The climbing wall's holds were too far apart for Isaac or Josh. Josh just decided it was too much and came down. Isaac came down too, but then he flopped on the ground, flat on his back, in shut-down mode because he was already over-loaded from all of the fair and because something he knew he could love was not made for his size.

A number of people were quite concerned, because he looked like he had fainted or something! :) It took more than five solid minutes for me to convince him that we could get the climbing belt off and another long while for him to get up and go. The other children were very patient with it.

It is hard when what you want isn't possible... but he worked through it. I was proud of him.
